Films to watch in 2016

Wondering what films are coming in 2016? Well there are a shed load coming out, especially Superhero films! So here is a list of some that you must see this year!

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
Set to be released on December 16th, this film is set between episodes three and four of the Star Wars Saga. Focusing around a band of resistance fighters with the intention of stealing the plans to the Death Star. Being Directed by Gareth Edwards (which was almost the first thing we knew about this film), who only recently saw great success when he directed the latest Godzilla film in 2014. But also starring Felicity Jones, Ben Mendelsohn, Sam Claflin and Riz Ahmed as the group of rebels set to take on this task!

With Star Wars Episode VII being a huge success and already grossing higher than any other Star Wars movie in Cinema Box Office, there is a lot of anticipation for this stand alone movie, being one main reason why it's on this list. However we are set to see a trailer for this film when Captain America: Civil War is released in cinemas on May 5th, but that doesn't mean that another trailer won't be released any sooner!

Captain America: Civil War
An adaptation from the Comic Book series 'Civil War' which saw a huge divide in the superhero
community in the Marvel Comics. This being the third instalment in the Captain America series in the MCU we will probably see the death of some of our favourite superheroes! This will focus on Steve Rogers who is the current leader of the Avengers team who have come under political pressure from the government who wish to pass a governing body that allows them to watch over and command the Avengers themselves. Captain America and a band of other superheroes believe that this is not right and fight for the freedom of Superheroes to defend humanity without the government interfering. Although on the side of the government, Iron man leads his team to fight with the government on this matter.

This could be the biggest film yet in the MCU with a huge divide between peoples favourite superheroes, forcing them to pick sides as they watch one another fight it out. With this film also introducing more heroes it makes it all that more exciting and with so much going on in this film, there is a reason for it being on this list!

Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice
The second in DC's attempt to launch their own cinematic universe with Henry Cavill returning as Superman and Ben Affleck as Batman. After the events of Man of Steel Bruce Wayne travels to New York, seeking Superman who he has a personal Vendetta against. Although amongst this another threat lurks just around the corner. The trailer for this film received a lot of criticism for exposing too much content in the film, especially when Jesse Eisenburg's Lex Luthor supposedly and rather strangely created 'Doomsday' (baring in mind he's a character that can't really be killed in the comics).

With other characters making appearances such as Aquaman, portrayed by Jason Mamoa, Gal Gadot as Wonder woman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg and Jeremy Irons as Alfred. So many characters in one movie, there's only two ways this could go and I hope it goes down well! I'm not so much a DC fan but I said that before the MCU so I just hope that this does enough to make another great cinematic universe! It definitely is a film to watch in 2016 as it has a lot to offer and despite it having some criticism, does actually look quite appealing!

Suicide Squad
Another comic book film, Suicide Squad is just as exciting as most films this year! Lets see why: the Joker, Deadshot, Harlequin, Enchantress, Cpt Boomerang and Killer Croc in one film! That's enough
to get excited about, but a group of super villains has been put together by a secret government agency led by Amander Waller who are assigned to undertake dangerous missions, in return they will get shorter prison sentences... if they live. They are known as Task Force X or otherwise known as suicide squad.

With the likes of Will Smith, Jared Leto and Margot Robbie in the cast it gets me so excited! Considering some stories I've heard about Jared Leto as the Joker, it could means that he's really dedicated himself to this role, considering he has big boots to fill after Heath Ledger's take on the Joker in the Dark Knight Trilogy.

Deadpool
Finally, Deadpool is coming out this February! With Ryan Reynolds playing a more authentic version of Deadpool than the one that appeared in X-Men Origins: Wolverine and one that is more like the comic book character. With Wade Wilson being a subject of an experiment in the hopes of curing his cancer, but instead ends with disastrous, life changing results; leaving Wade disfigured. With a lot of other comic superhero adaptations you expect a different World to immerse yourself into, what's so great about Deadpool is the breaking of the 4th wall which, to an extent, distances one from becoming emotionally involved. This makes it unique from all the other films, although we will become connected to an extent we will also experience a different kind of superhero! As Ryan Reynold's said on twitter: "A PG-13 #deadpool will still have 4th wall breaking, a shit-ton of action and at least 3 chimichangas. Zero need to panic. I Promise."

The cast are also pretty good, obviously Ryan Reynolds probably being one of very few people who could play Deadpool, Morena Baccarin as Vanessa, Ed Skrein as Francis, a member of the program that Wade volunteered for, T.J Miller as Weasel and Stefan Kapicic as Colossus! These are just some but the characters themselves are a good enough reason to see this film!

I know I said Suicide Squad is pretty exciting, but this is so much more!

X-men Apocolypse
Some people may be getting tired of the X-men films now, but this film has recast almost every mutant hero that has appeared in previous films or cast new ones. The plot of this film begins with
the oldest and first Mutant, Apocalypse who was known more in ancient times, but after waking up in the modern world he is unhappy with the advancements of humans. In an attempt t cleanse the world once more he hires a band of mutants to aid him on his mission, but Charles Xavier and his team of X-men lead the fight against Apocalypse to keep the world the way it is.

We will see old characters like Cyclops and Jean Grey return in a younger form, played by Tye Sheridan and Sophie Turner. Sophie being picked for the role with the similarities between Jean Grey and Sansa Stark in game of Thrones, both being outcasts. Director Bryan Singer saying that he loved the way she portrayed the part of Sansa and would be great as Jean Grey. We will also see James McAvoy returning as Charles Xavier, Michael Fassbender as Magneto and Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique. With new faces and old ones the next X-men film should be quite entertaining, despite the criticism the franchise has received its still exciting to see more films on the way, this probably being the biggest one yet!

Star Trek Beyond
The 3rd instalment in the reboot series and the thirteenth Star Trek film! After the Enterprise comes under attack by an unknown enemy, the crew become stranded on a strange planet. They have to face a strange enemy and get off the planet at the same time! With JJ Abrams admitting to some flaws in the last Star Trek film I'm sure he would like to redeem the franchise by producing a much better sequel!

Bringing back Chris Pine as James T. Kirk and Zachary Quinto as Spock, among others the cast is near enough the same with the introduction of a few others. One thing I hope that will stay is the comedy that has passed over the reboot series. The cast are perfect for incorporating the comedy and so are the writers. It will be integral to keep it going and have a story in order to be better than the second film in the series. This reaches the list because it's Star Trek and with the hopes of it being better than a lot of other films this year!

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
The return to the Wizarding World is highly anticipated and exciting! The story tells of the effect of
the escape of many dangerous beasts that were kept in a suitcase owned by Newt Scamander who brings it to a meeting with officials in the Magical Congress of the United States of America. Newt then becomes a fugitive as the authorities are sent after him, as he searches for the creatures. What's better is that J.K Rowling has written the screenplay for the movie, by keeping her in touch with the Wizarding World (seen as she was the creator) we will  be able to feel like we're back in the World we fell in love with when we followed the story of Harry Potter.

Eddie Redmayne being Newt Scamander has practically been the face of this film so far, the posters and trailers have focused a lot on him, being the big name he is now, but my he does suit a wizards outfit! He really looks the part and so does everyone else!

A lot are superhero films but there are so many coming out this year! Lets just hope these films live up to mine and everyone else's expectations!

Thank you for reading! :)
