Trailer Review - 10 Cloverfield Lane

"We wanted to make it a blood relative of Cloverfield. The Idea was developed over time. We wanted to hold back the title for as long as possible." Producer JJ Abrams has said. It has taken me a while to get round to doing this by I finally have. Back in 2008 we were given Cloverfield and unlike many people who didn't like it, I wanted to see more about the film with the amount of potential it had! Now rather unexpectedly we have been given a sequel and it here it is:

It's been a while since I've seen John Goodman in a film, the last film I watched with him was Monsters University! But anyway the trailer opens with Goodman's character playing Tommy James And The Shondell's "I think we're alone now" on the jukebox over a montage of shots including two other characters. Mary Elizabeth Winstead and John Gallagher, Jr complete the trio in the trailer and for a moment things don't look that scary. But then it all turns sour and ends with Mary's character attempting to escape the bunker and witnesses something so unnatural it ends the trailer right there. Whatever she saw we probably won't see it until the film is released in Cinema on March 11th this year!

The trailer doesn't give a lot of information about what's happening but from what I've read and gathered it's based around Mary's and John's characters, they are being held captive by Goodman in a bunker after a supposed chemical attack. But as we all know there's more to it and I'm excited to know what this film has to offer. There must have been a reason why this film was kept under wraps for so long by Paramount Studios and Abrams and with his recent success in Star Wars it might be worth watching this movie in cinema. Of course the reason for it being secret could have been to help promote Star Wars but I don't think that's the case. There will be more to this movie but not enough information to get anything from it yet.

Although the poster has quite an interesting tagline. It could be relating back to the original Cloverfield movie with the monsters but could also be implying new monsters to see.

More strangely the film will be shown in IMAX, which seems weird for a film with three people stuck in a bunker. Unless they aren't stuck in there all movie and could mean the monsters play a larger role than the trailer implies. Whatever it is that makes it IMAX worthy we won't know until its release, I hope to hear more information about the film as the film in the coming weeks seen as it really isn't that far away!

Thanks for reading! :)
